Custom Carving – 1970s Totem Pole Replica
A miniature replica of a totem pole carved in the 1970s by the client’s father.
The piece of carved of yellow cedar, while the base is of Western red cedar.
The red paint is of hematite; the black is of bone char; the yellow is of yellow ochre; the blue is Prussian blue (mixed with white); and the green is a mixture of blue and yellow. The binder for all of these is linseed oil, while the white paint is a soft mixing white with a medium of safflower oil.
The carving is bottomed with Harris tweed.
